Otolaryngologists are physicians and surgeons that treat diseases related to the ear, nose, throat and related structures. Otolaryngology has been conventionally shortened from its full name otorhinolaryngology, the study of diseases related to the ear (oto), nose (rhino) and throat (larynx) or ENT. It is a diverse field that specializes in some of the most common diseases that afflict young and old, such as ear infections, sinusitis, allergies, hearing loss, snoring and sleep apnea. Otolaryngologists are uniquely trained to offer both medical and surgical management of these disorders. We also treat and perform surgery for head and neck cancer, thyroid cancer, hyperparathyroidism, voice and swallowing disorders, and salivary gland tumors.
